Afghan Rugs

Recently, Afghanistan became the largest producer of quality handmade rugs, which is often surprising to many of our customers. The troubles in Afghanistan often overshadow the determination of ordinary people who continue to work in this ancient craft. Weaving is now one of the country's major exports, and you should be in no doubt that the quality produced is generally of a very high standard. The weavers very often work independently or in small units. This is not a manufacturing industry. The weaving is also almost entirely done by men.

The traditional methods of vegetable-dying natural wool and weaving are timeless and remain unaltered. Of course, we cannot trade directly with the weavers, so the rugs are taken across the border and finished in Pakistani workshops.
