Hand Loomed

Hand-loomed rugs are made using a loom that presses fibre strands together with thin threading. The process is based on an ancient weaving method, and traditionally, hand-loomed rugs were flat weaves with no pile. Today, a new technique involves inserting rods across the loom to pull some fibres into loops, creating a pile. The rods can then be removed as the rug is woven. The loop pile can be cut to create a cut pile, giving the rug a unique colour effect. Hand-loomed rugs can be made from various materials, including polyester, rayon, and natural and synthetic materials.

Hand-loomed rugs, unlike hand-knotted rugs, can be produced faster than other types and are more durable than machine-made ones. However, they can be delicate and may show signs of wear and damage in high-traffic areas.
